Paul Foster served as the CEO of the GBGA for over five years before stepping down to focus on his other business ventures. Currently, he is the chief executive of Crucial Compliance, a consultancy firm he founded in July 2019. Foster is also the chief compliance officer of Ultimate Platform Technology, another company he established. Additionally, he serves as a director of Combined Solutions Group, a business he launched in March 2021. GBGA chairman Nigel Birrell expressed gratitude for Foster’s hard work and wished him luck in his future endeavors.
The GBGA will be implementing a new strategy, replacing the CEO role with the position of “secretary-general.” Nicholas Macias, the former chief operations officer at the GBGA, will take on this new role. Birrell highlighted Macias’ extensive experience in the Gibraltar industry and compliance positions since 2014. Merel Swarts, the coordinator at the GBGA, will also be leaving her position. Angela Almeida and Bua Malamalatabua from The Dream Team, who have been assisting with website and social media management and engagement, will assume expanded roles, assisting with administration and operations duties at the GBGA.
Birrell expressed the GBGA’s commitment to evolving their strategy in the upcoming months, with a focus on supporting stakeholders in understanding and adapting to the new Gambling Act in Gibraltar. This will include navigating the revised licensing regime and revised/new codes of practice.
