Myers has a strong background in leading charities, having served in similar positions for several other organizations over the past 12 years. He has previously led Allergy UK, The Percy Hedley Foundation, and The Solicitors Charity, and has also chaired both the Association of Charitable Organizations and The Smallwood Trust.
New GamCare CEO D’Arcy Myers brings a wealth of experience in running charities. He has been appointed following the departure of Anna Hemmings, who served as CEO for five years.
Myers expressed his excitement about joining GamCare and his commitment to supporting the staff and partners in their crucial work. He looks forward to meeting the team, service users, and partners in the coming weeks.
GamCare’s chair of trustees, Margot Daly, expressed her delight in welcoming D’Arcy to the organization. She emphasized the value of his diverse experience, especially during this time of significant change in the sector.
Earlier this year, GamCare secured funding for an additional three years, thanks to support from GambleAware. This funding ensures that GamCare can continue operating the National Gambling Helpline, which has been in service for over 25 years. GamCare is also committed to enhancing the accessibility of the helpline and improving the accompanying digital tools and resources.
The organization plans to expand its services and treatment across various regions, including London, Yorkshire and Humber, Scotland, the South East, East Midlands, and the North East.
In addition, GamCare recently announced the appointment of Lester Posner and Jas Bindarh as new trustees on its board. Posner, the head of communications for the Health and Safety Executive, brings over 25 years of experience in the communications industry. Bindarh, a certified chartered accountant and regulatory consultant, has primarily worked in the corporate and investment banking sector.
