Under the agreement, Camelot has become an official marketing affiliate partner of ParalympicsGB and a supporter of Team GB. The aim is to provide support for team members at the upcoming Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, which were postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Camelot will use funding from National Lottery ticket sales to help finance necessary Covid-19 safety measures for the athletes, including hygiene technologies and testing programs. They will also provide Covid-secure transport for the ParalympicsGB team. In addition, Camelot, Team GB, and ParalympicsGB will implement an ‘Everyday Wellness’ program for Camelot employees, promoting happiness, health, and balance. This partnership builds on the National Lottery’s long-standing support for British Olympic and Paralympic sports, having already provided over £2.8bn in funding since 1996.
British Olympic Association CEO, Andy Anson, expressed the importance of Camelot’s support in ensuring a safe and world-class environment for the athletes in Tokyo. British Paralympic Association CEO, Mike Sharrock, also emphasized how this partnership with Camelot will aid in delivering exceptional preparation and Games time environments for the athletes this summer. Moreover, Nigel Railton, the CEO of Camelot, acknowledged that this partnership aligns with their commitment to the safety and well-being of their employees, providing them with the opportunity to be at their best every day.
Last year, the British Gambling Commission initiated the tender process for the UK’s National Lottery license. Camelot has completed the Gambling Commission’s Selection Questionnaire but has not confirmed whether they will bid for the license. Camelot has held the license since the establishment of the lottery in 1994.
