On 30 June this year, the KSA introduced a blanket ban on using role models in gambling marketing. The rule applies to all licensed operators in the Netherlands, except for charity and state lotteries. Two operators used the voices of famous Dutch people in adverts and were warned by the KSA. They withdrew the adverts to avoid cease-and-desist orders. The KSA will continue to monitor compliance with the ban.
In a separate case, LCS Limited and MKC Limited ceased operations in the Netherlands after receiving cease-and-desist orders from the KSA. LCS allowed players to use their website without a license, while MKC offered games through Betworld247.com and accepted bets from Dutch players.
