National Lottery plc has won the concession to manage and operate the Maltese National Lottery, marking the first time in 18 years that a fully-owned Maltese company will run it. IGT has been selected as the lottery’s technology provider, with EveryMatrix supplying its online products. EveryMatrix will integrate IGT’s retail transaction engine into its CasinoEngine solution through IGT’s Aurora Anywhere, making the National Lottery’s draw-based games accessible online.
“We are proud to support National Lottery plc in this endeavor,” said Ebbe Groes, group CEO of EveryMatrix. “Our system will help redirect Maltese players from illegal or abusive secondary lotteries. The integration of the world’s top lottery system provider showcases the effectiveness of our platform.”
This announcement follows Malta’s removal from the Financial Action Task Force’s grey list, a development that requires enhanced monitoring. “After 18 years since the national lottery’s privatization in 2004, it will now be operated by a wholly-owned Maltese company committed to providing a local, innovative, and high-quality service,” stated Franco DeGabriele, CCO of National Lottery plc. “We will invest in top-notch systems, ensuring compliance with the highest standards. Our digital innovation will put Malta on the global map, and we will cooperate closely with authorities to eliminate all forms of lottery abuse.”
