In a statement, Parimatch announced that it has suspended operations in Ukraine and blocked its Ukraine site for players in the country. This action follows the implementation of Presidential Decree No. 145/2023 by President Zelensky on March 10. The decree was based on a decision from Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) which imposed sanctions on 287 companies, including many betting entities, and 120 individuals.
President Zelensky referred to this move as a “new sanctioning step against individuals and legal entities associated with the evil state” during his address on March 11. He claimed that gambling businesses were withdrawing funds from Ukraine and supporting activities in Russia. Parimatch expressed its disagreement with the decision and accused the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) of “illegal violations.”
Requesting a verification of the NSDC’s decision and action against the SBU’s alleged misconduct, Parimatch expressed its willingness to engage in public discussion and defend its position in court. The company assured its customers that their personal funds remain safe and will be transferred in full. Parimatch also stated that all partnerships and staff contracts are suspended.
Regarding Parimatch’s B2B business, GR8 Tech, it announced that it would no longer work with Parimatch due to the sanctions. GR8 Tech will continue to operate and support its other clients and partners globally.
