The licence of Smart Operations was cancelled by the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) effective from 31 April 2021.
The cancellation was initiated due to a violation of regulation 9(1) of the Gaming Compliance and Enforcement Regulations by Smart Operations.
- Smart Operations failed to comply with mandatory terms obligated by Malta law.
- Smart Operations did not adhere to the financial commitments necessary for its operations.
- Smart Operations did not make payments to the MGA within an appropriate timeframe.
The MGA has the authority to cancel licences under regulation 10, which is applicable when regulation 9 is breached.
As a result of the licence cancellation, Smart Operations is no longer permitted to carry out its operations, register new players, or accept new deposits from customers.
However, they are required to allow existing players to access their accounts and refund any necessary amounts.
Smart Operations held a licence to offer both casino games and fixed-odds betting, but the licence did not include any domain names.
In February, the MGA announced the cancellation of seven licences during the first half of 2020.
