The plaintiff participated in sports betting on Vulcanvegas.com between 2020 and 2022.
Vulcanvegas.com is operated by Brivio Limited, based in Cyprus.
The plaintiff incurred losses of €14,000.
This case includes activity both before and after the Fourth State Treaty on Gambling came into effect in Germany.
Brivio Limited did not have a license to operate before or after the Treaty took effect, making its post-treaty activity illegal.
The court determined that Brivio Limited violated the State Treaty on Gambling by operating without a license.
The judgement was made by default as Brivio Limited did not defend itself in court against the lawsuit.
In addition to reimbursing the plaintiff for their losses, Brivio Limited is also required to pay the associated court costs.
This case is one of several recent reimbursement cases in Germany where the court ruled in favor of the plaintiff.
Most of these cases involved online casinos, which only became legal outside of Schleswig-Holstein last year.
Last month, the highest court in the German state of Nordrhein-Westfalen ruled that PokerStars must reimburse a player €58,517.
