The licence allows Hommerson Amusement to offer online games of chances in compliance with Dutch regulations for igaming. The specific brand to be used for operating igaming in the country has not been determined yet. Once confirmed, the details will be published in the Dutch “Kansspelwijzer” gambling guide.
This licence is the 27th to be issued for the online gambling market in the Netherlands, which launched in October 2021. Recent approvals also include LeoVegas Group, which has plans to relaunch igaming in the country in July, and SCGO Limited, a Malta-based company that obtained an online gambling licence earlier this year.
The Dutch regulator, KSA, has initiated an investigation into prohibited cashback bonuses after being informed about an operator promoting such offers to players. In November 2022, KSA ordered Dutch igaming licensees to stop providing cashback bonuses, as they are considered as “excessive” gambling and violate advertising laws.
A nationwide ban on untargeted gambling advertising took effect from 1st July. This ban prohibits television and radio adverts, as well as ads in public spaces. However, advertising on the internet and television on demand is allowed under strict conditions.
