During January 2023, revenue in Pennsylvania increased to $464.4m, but was 10.7% behind the December 2023 revenue of $534.2m. This revenue is generated from land-based slot and table games, online gambling sports betting, video lottery terminals (VLTs), and fantasy sports.
Physical slots remain the primary source of gambling revenue in Pennsylvania at $179.5m, down 11.2% year-on-year. Land-based table games revenue also slipped 13.4% to $72.7m, representing a 10.7% decrease from December 2023.
However, the online gambling sector in Pennsylvania experienced growth, with igaming revenue reaching $149.6m in January, up 12.4% from the previous year. Online slots revenue saw a significant rise of 22.0% to $110.0m, while online table game revenue fell 7.8% to $36.9m. Hollywood Casino at Penn National led the market with $50.5m in total igaming revenue.
In the sports betting market, total revenue increased by 77.9% to $69.9m in January. Online wagering revenue accounted for $66.0m, while retail sportsbooks contributed $3.9m. Valley Forge Casino Resort and FanDuel were the top performers in sports betting revenue, generating $39.6m during the month.
Other revenue sources in Pennsylvania included VLT revenue of $3.0m, down 9.1%, and fantasy sports revenue of $2.5m, a decrease of 3.9%.
New brands entering the Pennsylvania market include Fanatics Betting and Gaming, which launched its sportsbook and online casino in place of PointsBet. Microbetting operator Betr also secured a market access deal in the state through an agreement with the Cordish Gaming Group.
