Bayes announced a partnership with Riot Games that will provide exclusive worldwide distribution rights for “virtually all League of Legends competitions”. This includes in-game data, fixture lists, and audiovisual rights for betting operators.
The chief operating officer of Bayes Esports, Amir Mirzaee, stated that this partnership is crucial for strengthening the esports ecosystem and contributing to the sport’s sustainability.
Since the start of the deal in 2019, it has expanded to offer tailored solutions such as a team data portal and additional regional leagues.
According to John Knauss, technical product manager at Riot Games, the initial focus of the partnership was on distributing and commercializing data to third parties. However, through conversations with Bayes Esports, the community, and the teams, they have realized the potential for greater collaboration to support the continuous growth and success of LoL Esports.
Mirzaee emphasized that the partnership has evolved beyond data distribution to a collaborative approach, where partners can co-create innovation and co-sell together. The tech teams from both Bayes and Riot Games have worked together to develop a League of Legends community data portal. This portal allows various community members to securely access a wide range of historic data, including game replays and scrimmage data.
Overall, this partnership is seen as a breakthrough in the professionalization of esports, providing valuable data to pro teams for improving their game.
