Kazuo Okada, the former CEO of the casino, was removed in 2017 due to the “misappropriation” of funds.
In April, the Philippine Supreme Court issued a status quo ante order, reinstating Okada as the CEO.
However, the operator disputes the Supreme Court order, claiming that Tiger Resort Asia, the holding company, is based in Hong Kong and therefore not subject to the order.
Tiger Resort and Universal Entertainment, the parent company, allege that individuals directed by Okada forcefully entered and occupied the property.
Tiger Resort also states that Dindo Espeleta, accompanied by around 50 police officers and private security guards, unlawfully dismissed employees and forced them to leave.
The operator plans to file criminal charges for offenses such as trespassing, obstruction of business, unlawful occupation, theft, assault, injury, and incitement.
