The operator is undergoing a licence suitability review by the NSW Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority.
The review is assessing Star Sydney’s interactions with junkets and measures for preventing money laundering.
The review began in September last year and is reaching its final stages.
Last month, the NSW parliament passed a bill to create a new land-based regulator for the state to consider the review’s findings.
A report by Adam Bell SC, leading the review, has recommended that Star should lose its licence in NSW unless it implements board changes and compliance reform.
The report has been presented to state officials and is expected to be released publicly soon.
Star has not received a copy of the report and is unaware of its contents.
Star has requested a trading halt on its ordinary shares in order to prevent trading in an uninformed market.
The trading halt is expected to remain in place until the report is released and trading resumes on 14 September 2022.
In addition to the NSW review, there is also an independent review taking place in Queensland.
This review is assessing Star’s suitability to hold a casino licence in the state.
Concerns over money laundering and integrity have prompted this review.
The review in Queensland will continue alongside ongoing investigations by the state’s police and casino regulator.
Star currently operates The Star Gold Coast land-based casino in Queensland.
