BetStop is a new initiative that allows individuals to self-exclude from all Australian licensed online and phone wagering services. This exclusion can range from three months to permanent. Once registered with BetStop, licensed wagering providers are required to close the individual’s betting accounts, block them from placing bets, opening new accounts, and sending marketing messages. Wagering providers in the country must also promote BetStop through their websites, mobile apps, and marketing efforts.
“BetStop will assist those at risk of gambling harm to take control of their situation by enabling them to block themselves from all licensed online and phone wagering services in a single process,” said ACMA chair Nerida O’Loughlin.
ACMA has recently requested internet service providers (ISPs) in the country to block access to 11 offshore gambling websites that were found to be operating in breach of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001. These websites include Pokie Island, Rich Palms, Lucky Tiger Casino, Megaslot, Bitkingz, Parimatchwin, Casino Rocket, Montecryptos, Cabarino, Robin Roo, and Jackpot Jill VIP.
