The PPF aims to raise awareness of Gamstop, a responsible gambling solution, among its members and the wider public. This partnership builds on the federation’s existing initiatives in promoting responsible gambling.
The PPF, which includes organizations such as the Professional Footballers Association (PFA) and similar bodies in cricket, darts, racing, and rugby, will share information about Gamstop on its website and social channels.
In addition to educating players about the potential risks associated with gambling, the PPF will integrate Gamstop into its current range of educational assets. This is crucial as professional athletes are more susceptible to developing gambling problems.
Since March 2020, all British online operators must be integrated with Gamstop as a condition of their Gambling Commission license. Gamstop allows consumers to exclude themselves from all gambling sites for a minimum period of six months, one year, or five years.
Registration with Gamstop is binding until the self-exclusion period expires, which can be up to seven years if users do not contact Gamstop. Over 150,000 individuals have already registered with Gamstop, and the PPF’s partnership aims to provide practical tools and support to affected individuals.
The PPF’s Chief Executive, Simon Taylor, expressed their commitment to promoting Gamstop and making the self-exclusion process easier for players who choose to utilize it.
Fiona Palmer, CEO of Gamstop, is excited about working closely with the PPF and its members, appreciating their dedication to protecting and educating individuals in sports impacted by gambling problems.
