In October last year, the KSA discovered that Holland Casino’s licensed and regulated igaming site contained links that led visitors to information about the operator’s physical casinos across the country. This was deemed a breach of Article 4.2, paragraph 5, of the Dutch Remote Games of Chance Decree by the KSA.
Holland Casino holds the monopoly license in the Netherlands for operating land-based casinos, separate from the online gambling permit obtained last year.
The KSA ruling was delayed due to pending procedures and appeals filed by Holland Casino. However, the operator has accepted the ruling and taken action by removing the links, ensuring compliance with Dutch regulations.
KSA has recently issued several fines and warnings for license breaches in the Netherlands online gambling market. Toto Online, owned by Nederlandse Loterij, was fined €400,000 for targeted advertising towards young adults between October 1, 2021, and February 1, 2022.
During the same period, KSA also took action against other licensed operators for various rule violations related to the 2022 Fifa World Cup. This included offering bets on the number of yellow cards in football matches and using role models to promote gambling, both of which are prohibited by Dutch law.
