The RecoverMe app was developed by three junior doctors in consultation with psychiatrists, psychologists, and individuals struggling with gambling addiction. It utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to address gambling problems. The app aims to enhance the accessibility and affordability of treatment for problem gamblers by offering a support option. It is designed to assist users in reflecting on their gambling habits, challenging their thought processes related to gambling, and accessing mindfulness sessions.
The club’s investment in RecoverMe will be used to add more features and reduce its cost for users. “We firmly believe that RecoverMe will be a lifeline for those suffering in silence,” stated Minal Jain, co-founder of RecoverMe. “Southampton’s dedication to creating positive change in this area has been truly inspiring, and we are thrilled to collaborate with them. This is just the beginning of a promising partnership.”
Earlier this year, Southampton announced its partnership with Cryptocurrency-based betting operator Sportsbet.io as the main shirt sponsor for the 2020-21 season. Southampton’s chief commercial officer, David Thomas, emphasized that RecoverMe aligns well with the club’s values regarding responsible gambling. “I am delighted to announce the club’s support for RecoverMe. Promoting responsible gambling is a top priority for Southampton, and we actively seek out new opportunities to demonstrate our commitment to this cause. We take pride in endorsing the RecoverMe app and look forward to working closely with an organization that shares our values.”
