The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has taken strict action against nine online casinos for violating the Interactive Gambling Act 2001. These casinos, namely Stay Casino, Bambet, Dazard Casino, Level Up Casino, Rocketplay Casino, Wild Tornado Casino, Cobra Casino, Cobra Bet, Casinority, and Pokies Lab, were found to be offering services to Australian players without the necessary license. To prevent further access to these illegal websites, the ACMA has requested Australian internet service providers to block them.
This recent round of blocking orders marks a significant milestone in the ACMA’s efforts to combat illegal gambling, with a total of 481 blacklisted websites to date. Additionally, over 160 illegal gambling services have withdrawn from the Australian market since the ACMA started enforcing new regulations against offshore gambling in 2017.
The ACMA has cautioned consumers about the lack of customer protections associated with illegal gambling services. Even though these services may appear legitimate, Australians who engage in illegal gambling run the risk of losing their money.
In the previous month, six more websites, namely Golden Crown Casino, Sol Casino, PowBet, ExciteWin, Sportaza, and Gamble Online, were also found to be in breach of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001. Consequently, the ACMA issued additional blocking orders against these websites.
