The gambling group, which operates Ladbrokes and Coral, recently announced the appointment of Stella David as interim chief executive following the departure of Nygaard-Andersen.
The boardroom and board committees have undergone changes in response to David’s new role. Pierre Bouchut has been appointed as the senior independent director, replacing David. Virginia McDowell has been appointed as chair of the Remuneration Committee, and Barry Gibson is now chair of both the group’s People and Governance Committee.
Rahul Welde has also been appointed as a member of the People and Governance Committee. Bouchut has extensive experience in finance, European retail, and European property, making him an ideal fit for the senior independent director position.
Furthermore, Ricky Sandler of investment firm Eminence Capital is expected to join Entain’s board soon, as the company responds to activism targeting it. Sandler has previously advocated for the sale of all or part of Entain’s BetMGM joint venture.
Nygaard-Andersen’s departure comes after Entain resolved a case with the Crown Prosecution Service related to past activities in Turkey. The resolution involved a significant financial penalty, charitable donation, and payment of costs. Gibson praised Nygaard-Andersen for her leadership during this challenging period.
