In October, the total handle for sports betting in New Hampshire reached $77.8m, which was a 14.8% decrease compared to the same month last year but a 16.5% increase from September 2023. This was the highest monthly spend in the state since March 2023, when a record $103.4m was bet.
Out of the total handle, $65.9m was bet on mobile platforms, while $12.0m was bet at retail sportsbooks across New Hampshire. These figures were reported by the New Hampshire Lottery.
DraftKings remains the exclusive operator offering online sports wagering in New Hampshire, having secured the rights for the state in November 2019.
In terms of gross gaming revenue, October saw $8.8m generated, a 3.3% decrease from October last year but a substantial 41.9% increase from September 2023. The New Hampshire Lottery highlighted that this was the highest monthly revenue since January’s record of $12.6m. Overall, it was the second most successful month for operators in 2023.
When analyzing revenue performance, online betting accounted for $8.4m in October, while retail wagering only contributed $334,433.
Regarding taxes, a total of $3.8m was collected during the month, with $3.7m coming from online betting and $144,756 from retail wagering.
Turning to year-to-date performance, the handle for the four months up to September stood at $220.4m in New Hampshire. Out of this total, $193.2m was bet online, while $27.1m was bet at retail sportsbooks. The revenue for the same period amounted to $21.8m, with $20.2m generated online and $1.6m generated from retail betting. The year-to-date tax collection reached $9.5m, with $8.8m coming from online wagering and $720,415 from retail betting.
