This Saturday, November 9, Virgin Bet will host its second Women’s Day at the Virgin Bet November Handicap at Doncaster Racecourse. The event will celebrate the impactful role of women in horse racing, underscoring Virgin Bet’s dedication to fostering a more inclusive sports environment.
Building on last year’s success
Following the success of last year’s inaugural Women’s Day at Ayr Racecourse, this event promotes diversity and equality within horse racing. Open to all, Women’s Day reflects Virgin Bet’s commitment to its core philosophy, A Good Bet, aimed at breaking down barriers within racing and sports overall.
Rachel Harwood, Executive Director of Doncaster Racecourse, expressed her pride in hosting the event, which provides recognition and support to the many women shaping the racing industry. She praised Virgin Bet’s contributions to inclusivity:
“We are proud to celebrate Women’s Day here at Doncaster Racecourse. It’s a fantastic opportunity to remind everyone that racing is for everyone, and we hope all racegoers feel a sense of belonging.”
To enhance safety for all attendees, Virgin Bet has partnered with WalkSafe as part of its A Good Bet campaign. The WalkSafe app, designed to help women feel safe when walking alone, includes features like safe-route planning and real-time updates, helping protect individuals in need.
Virgin Bet’s commitment to UK horse racing
In addition to the exciting races, attendees will have access to two panels hosted by presenter Natalie Pike in the Exhibition Hall at 11 a.m. The discussions will feature prominent women in the sport, exploring professional insights and the importance of inclusivity in horse racing.
“I hope this year’s event will continue to inspire and uplift the incredible women in horse racing,” said Pike, the event’s host.
Virgin Bet will also be making a charitable donation to Racing Welfare, an organization supporting Britain’s racing workforce. The November Handicap marks the start of Virgin Bet’s season-long partnership with Arena Racing Company (ARC) to sponsor high-profile events in the 2024/25 season, reinforcing Virgin Bet’s dedication to the sport.
Virgin Bet’s Marketing Director, Dominic Vye, emphasized the brand’s commitment to inclusivity:
“At Virgin Bet, through our A Good Bet campaign, we want to make sport more accessible and celebrate brilliance, regardless of the individual.”
Virgin Bet’s Women’s Day, part of its A Good Bet campaign, aims to highlight the significant role of women in horse racing and to foster an inclusive future. With Virgin Bet’s continued support, Women’s Day is set to become a recurring event, further raising awareness and supporting the UK’s horse racing industry.
