A 67-year-old man from Oak Park, Michigan, recently experienced a life-changing event when he remembered to purchase his ticket for the popular Fantasy 5 draw. The Michigan Lottery announced that the winner of the Fantasy 5 draw from June 3 had come forward to claim his prize.
The lucky winner, Russell Morgenstern, has been a longtime lottery player. He bought his winning ticket online through the official Michigan Lottery website.
Morgenstern won a total of $170,129 after matching the winning numbers 12, 20, 26, 31, and 34 from the June 3 drawing. He claimed his prize in person at the Lottery headquarters.
When asked about his plans for the $170,000 jackpot, Morgenstern revealed that he intends to retire and complete renovations on his lake house.
A significant win in Fantasy 5
Fantasy 5 is a popular game offered by the Michigan Lottery, with each play costing only $1. Players have the chance to win prizes ranging from $1 to a jackpot that starts at $100,000.
Draws for Fantasy 5 occur daily at 7:29 PM, and tickets for the same-day draw must be purchased by 7:08 PM. For an additional $1, players can add the EZmatch option for a chance to win up to $500 instantly. Another $1 per play adds the Double Play option, which provides a second chance to win up to $110,000 in the nightly Double Play drawing.
As of now, the Fantasy 5 jackpot has grown to $620,000.
“When I saw there was one jackpot winner for $170,129 and the ticket was purchased online, I knew I really was the winner! Winning this prize is a windfall and a huge blessing,” said Morgenstern.
Morgenstern has been playing Fantasy 5 every day for the past five or six years. On the day he won, he remembered around 6 PM that he hadn’t yet bought his tickets. He quickly logged into his lottery account and purchased his tickets, opting for easy pick numbers.
Later that night, Morgenstern received an email from the Michigan Lottery informing him of his win. Upon confirming the details of the drawing, he realized he was the sole jackpot winner. Morgenstern expressed his gratitude, acknowledging the jackpot as a significant blessing.
